Old Pepperpot
Capsicum annuum
Old Pepperpot is one of the historic pre-1800 Philadelphia peppers acquired by the Roughwood Seed Collection in the 1930s from African American folk painter Horace Pippin. It was used extensively by Black cooks to add subtle spiciness to pepperpot soup and in recipes calling for Cayenne. The four-inch pods vary in heat from mild to medium hot and dry well for grinding into powder. Minimum 25 seeds.
