Green Glaze Collard
Brassica oleracea
This rare winter-hardy collard evolved out of Green Glaze Cabbage introduced in 1820 by Philadelphia seedsman David Landreth. The waxy leaves are essentially insect proof (great for organic gardening) and yet have no negative affect on the culinary tenderness. Second year plants will grow 1 ½ feet tall but may spread up to 40 inches across. Thrives under the snow. Hog jowls and greens anyone? Minimum 30 seeds. Germination 96%.
