ORIGINAL STRAIN! This rare African American pepper was used by caterers in Philadelphia and Baltimore. It was acquired from folk painter Horace Pippin by Roughwood Seed Collection founder H. Ralph Weaver during the late 1930s. Tall bushy plants with variegated leaves and pods. Pods ripen to orange with brown stripes then turn red. Highly ornamental, the fruity flavor of the peppers matches perfectly with shellfish. Minimum 25 seeds. Germination 96%.
