Desert Tarragon
Tagetes Lucida
This fragrant herb from Mexico and the American Southwest is also called Sweet Mace Marigold, Mt. Pima Anis and many other local names. A relative of common garden marigolds, it is widely used in Mexican cookery. Both the leaves and flowers are edible. Considered a hardy annual it is resistant to light frosts. Minimum 25 seeds.
This landrace native to Mexico is grown as an annual. Its small yellow flowers are delicious in salads, but it’s the leaves that have the greatest flavor. The sprawling plants are generally dwarf, about 12 to 14 inches tall and bloom all summer. Pest free, this marigold can be used as a potherb fresh or dried. Ideal for tub culture on the terrace or even in window boxes.
